It's been a while (aka LIFE happened)

Yes, it's been a while...

My last post was in August, 2012 (seems like millenia ago), and lots of things have happened since then. The saddest thing was when Concheetah (my friend Rachel's foster kitty) developed Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) somewhere in January 2013 and went over the Rainbow Bridge not long after that. Although there has not been a recorded case of any feline surviving this disease (100% fatality rate in every post, blog, or site we visited), we (mostly Rachel) were hoping that a miracle would happen. We gave her health supplements, and lots of encouragement, but I could see the pain and resignation in her eyes (which I didn't tell Rachel) and I knew she was asking us to let her go.

Concheetah, when she first came under Rachel's care in July 2012

In the days before her passing
I remember the day (or early morning) when I received Rachel's sms informing me that sweet Concheetah had passed on... And then, a few days later the picture message that almost had me bawling my eyes out in the office:

'She's home'

Rachel had Concheetah cremated and her ashes mixed in a pot, in which she planted a purple rose plant (which she has had to replace recently as her other foster kitty, Colleen killed it by eating the leaves and flowers).

I'm glad the other 5 kitties in Rachel's care (3 her own and 2 fosters) are healthy and have not shown any symptoms of FIP.

AMBER  (Mr Grumpy Pants, Ber-Ber, Ber) the SENIOR MEOW
(Turned 10 last month, Happy Birthday Ber)

BRIGHT-EYES (Mz Hard to Please, Mz Contrary), not much younger than Amber

YODA (the Baby, and yet the HEAVIEST by far)
~ Rachel is going to KILL me ~

COLLEEN, the older foster
(can't remember when she came to be under Rachel's care)

TONG-TONG, this sweetie came together with Concheetah
(they were found sleeping on the streets, abandoned by PREVIOUS IDIOTIC OWNERS
(I'm being kind here) who just upped and left for another STATE)

Whenever I come around (usually over the weekends), I'd be cleaning litter, trimming nails, bathing them (if necessary) and giving them hugs (which NONE of them like), butt-spankings (Yoda LOVES this) and all around luvvins...

Other issues (work, health, etc.) were also happening (part and parcel of life), but nothing so interesting that warranted a mention here!

I hope to be able to post regularly, but that too depends on LIFE (oh harsh mistress, thee). Don't know who will be reading this (or my previous posts) but bouquets and brickbats are welcomed!

  4. We want to thank you so very much for your kind words of comfort and friendship after our very sudden loss of Thunder. We are all still very sad, but the support and love from all of our friends from all over the world is helping to heal our broken hearts. We are sure that Thunder Dunder is now in a very happy place and also very thankful to have so many wonderful friends.

  5. Thanks for visiting SpittySpeaks today ;-) It's nice to meet you. This was a sad story about sweet Concheetah but we are glad the other kitties were okay. I hope you will get a kitty one of these days, but it sounds like you get plenty of snorgle time with these nice furiends!

    1. You're welcome, I've been reading your blogs for quite some time now, and have enjoyed them every time (I think I got directed from Katie Isabella's blog).
I don't get to see the kitties as often as I'd like, but I hope to be able to live with cats someday...

  6. Thank you for the visit and I do hope that you will continue to blog. I would like to purr with you a bunch times.
